CEL Solicitors is delighted to announce that owner and director, Jessica Hampson has won Legal Personality of the Year 2023 at the Women in Business Awards.
Women in Business Awards 2023
Hosted by Downtown in Business, an award-winning business organisation in the North West and the West Midlands, the Women in Business Awards celebrated the leading female business personalities from across the Liverpool City Region.
The CEL team attended the awards show at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on 10th March 2023, where Jessica was announced as a winner.
Jessica as a Legal Personality
Through her leadership, Jessica has fostered a culture at CEL Solicitors that prioritises both professional excellence and personal fulfilment. This is achieved by employing people who have real passion for the law and who embody the firm’s values of ‘People Before Profits’, ‘Celebrating Excellence in Law’ and ‘Gratitude is Our Attitude’.
Jessica has faced pushback many times throughout her career for her bold personality and colourful clothing choices. Despite this, she has remained steadfast in her commitment to expressing her individuality through her wardrobe. She refuses to let outdated notions of what a legal professional ‘should’ look like dampen her enthusiasm for incorporating her favourite colour – pink – into her attire.
For Jessica, professionalism and authenticity need not be mutually exclusive. Her approach to law reflects a commitment to celebrating individuality and creating a work culture that values diversity and self-expression. Jessica’s main purpose for CEL is to provide a place where people can enjoy working – where their work is truly appreciated, and their efforts are rewarded.

Jessica is truly passionate about the law, professional development, and mentorship, and consistently champions staff in these three areas. Confidence training, team-building activities, keynote speeches, and book club are just a few initiatives available to staff at CEL Solicitors. Similarly, Jessica imparts her expertise as a lawyer and business owner by mentoring university students and CEL employees in her spare time.
A true advocate for women in business, Jessica hosts quarterly female empowerment sessions at CEL, where guest speakers will discuss topics such as equal pay, doulas, and mental health, to name a few.
Jessica has recently turned her hand to podcast hosting; the People Before Profits podcast features some of the most interesting voices in the country to get their thoughts on trending topics, social issues, and the legal sector. Guests include the likes of housing campaigner, Kwajo Tweneboa, business coach, Andrea Edwards, and CEL’s own staff.
Commenting on the award win, Jessica Hampson said:
“I was so honoured just to be nominated in such a fabulous category alongside some fantastic women, one of whom is a great personal friend. But to win was just the icing on the cake to a brilliant and inspiring night.
I want to thank my exceptional team at CEL Solicitors and dedicate my award to all the strong women out there. May we know them, may we be them, and may we raise them!”
